Psychologist & Orthopedagoog Elif Sultan Akagündüz is a specialist who works with children, adolescents, and families using a holistic approach. Her work is centered on the belief that every child has a unique developmental, emotional, and social structure , and therefore, every intervention plan is individualized and needs-focused.
Her main objective is to highlight the child’s strengths, and support their development by establishing a consistent support system through the collaboration of family, school, and social environment.
Education and Specialization
Akagündüz’s academic background and specialization journey bring together disciplines from Turkey and the Netherlands:
Undergraduate Education: She graduated from Anadolu University’s Special Education department. During her undergraduate studies, she focused on developmental differences, emotional regulation, and school-family-child cooperation.
Dutch Specialization: Following her bachelor’s degree, she was accepted into the Pre-Master Orthopedagogiek program in the Netherlands and is currently in the thesis phase.
Professional Registration: She maintains her professional competence as an expert registered with the SKJ (Stichting Kwaliteitsregister Jeugd) system in the Netherlands , which certifies adherence to ethical standards and professional qualifications for professionals working with children, youth, and families.
Experience and Institutional Work
After completing her mandatory internships, she gained extensive experience with children facing communication and developmental difficulties by working at respected institutions in the field:
The Netherlands: She worked at institutions like Kentalis.
Turkey: She served at organizations such as the Otizm Vakfı (Autism Foundation).
These experiences strengthened her perspective of considering every child not only on an individual level but also with their family, school, and social environment.
